Taking Pictures
All ages are welcome to participate, and to help launch the project, professional photographers will be talking to the village about their work, and giving some useful advice on what makes a good photograph. The launch event, held at Newbiggin Sports and Communty Centre on at 7pm on Thursday 9th August, will invite all of those interested in taking part to come along and find out more about the project, and how to get involved.
The most important aspect of the project is to activate as many people to take pictures as possible – we want everyone to take part. We want photographs that show ordinary and extraordinary people living in, working in and visiting Newbiggin by the Sea. We’re not necessarily after beautiful scenery – although we’re sure that some of what we get will feature the beautiful new bay.
Tips for taking your photographs:
- It must be taken in Newbiggin by the Sea at any time on 19th August 2007
- Try to take a photograph that you think no-one else will be taking on that day
- Show your typical life – and a glimpse behind the scenes of the village
- Take your photos set at your camera’s highest resolution if it’s a digital camera
- We can use photographs from any type of camera, including disposable single use cameras (you’ll need to get them developed first) or even camera phones, as well as film cameras and digital cameras
- If you don’t have a camera, we’ll be giving out special digital cameras, one per street, so that everyone can take part.
- Try to take your photos at any times during the 24 hour period – rather than only the daylight hours. We’re interested in photos of you getting up for a midnight snack, brushing your teeth, having your breakfast, washing the dishes, doing the garden, gong to the shop, walking the dog, feeding the cat, watching the tv, going to church, being at work, visiting friends, at the pub, putting the bin out and everything else in-between. Indoors and out – day and night.
- Try and keep your subject simple and show the subject clearly
- Submit no more than 12 photographs, along with your contact details and details of exactly when and where the photographs were taken.
- Please make sure that anyone shown in your photographs is happy for them to be published.
